Using Inetgarden with Zoom
Updated 9 September 2026
Connecting Zoom lets you start a Zoom meeting from an Inetgarden room, so the people working on a machine together can also talk. The connection is optional and Inetgarden works fully without it.
What you need
- An Inetgarden account, signed in.
- A Zoom account allowed to create meetings. If your Zoom account belongs to an organisation, an administrator may need to permit the app first.
Connecting
- Sign in to Inetgarden, open the account menu (your email address at the bottom of the side bar), and choose Profile.
- Under Connected apps, select Connect Zoom. The same control is on Home, under Connected apps.
- Zoom asks you to approve the access listed below. Review it and approve.
- Zoom returns you to Inetgarden and the connection shows as connected.
What Inetgarden asks Zoom for, and why
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
meeting:write:meeting | Create a meeting when you ask for one from a room |
meeting:read:meeting | Read that meeting back so the room can show the correct join link |
user:read:user | Identify which Zoom account the connection belongs to, so meetings are created as you |
zoomapp:inmeeting | Let the Inetgarden app open inside the Zoom client during a meeting |
That is the whole list. Inetgarden does not ask for access to your recordings, your chat history, your contacts, or meetings it did not create.
Starting a meeting
Open a room and choose to create a Zoom meeting. Inetgarden creates it on your Zoom account and shows the join link to the room. Asking twice for the same room returns the same meeting rather than creating a second one. Meetings are created with the waiting room enabled.
What Inetgarden stores
- The authorisation Zoom issues, encrypted with Google Cloud KMS and bound to your account.
- Your Zoom account and user identifiers, to match the connection to you.
- For each meeting created from a room: the meeting identifier and its join link.
The host start link is treated as a credential and is only ever shown to the person entitled to host. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Disconnecting
In Inetgarden, open Profile from the account menu and, under Connected apps, choose Disconnect Zoom. On Home the same control is under Connected apps, then Manage Zoom. It is available whenever Zoom is connected, including when the connection asks you to reconnect. The stored authorisation and the meeting links saved in your rooms are deleted immediately. Meetings already created stay in your Zoom account; delete them there if you want them gone.
A Zoom account can be connected to one Inetgarden account at a time. To move it to another Inetgarden account, disconnect it here first, then connect it from the other account.
Removing the app from Zoom
- Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
- Open Manage, then Added Apps.
- Find Inetgarden and select Remove.
Removing it from Zoom revokes the authorisation at the Zoom end and disconnects your Zoom user from every Inetgarden account it was connected to. Inetgarden keeps working; the Zoom connection simply shows as disconnected.
If something goes wrong
- Connect Zoom does nothing — check whether your browser blocked the pop-up or the redirect, then try again.
- Zoom refuses the approval — your Zoom account may be managed, and an administrator may need to permit the app.
- The connection asks you to authorise again — authorisations expire and are sometimes revoked on the Zoom side. Selecting Connect Zoom again restores it.
- Zoom is "already connected to another Inetgarden account" — sign in to that account and choose Disconnect Zoom on its Profile, or remove the app from Zoom as described above, then connect again.
- A meeting will not create — confirm your Zoom account is allowed to schedule meetings, then contact us.
